Quick Tip 2: Flagging

Updated: Aug 28, 2018

This series of posts aims to help small business owners take better photos, themselves - it's DIY photography

Homemade ice-cream dessert with fresh strawberry purée. Perfect for summer holiday decadence.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ REAL REVEAL: "Flagging" This was taken at my dining room table with natural light coming through the window. (Sorry I forgot to take a behind the scenes photo) There was a bit too much light in the shot, so to make the foreground pop with bright light and colour, I decided just to darken the background. I grabbed a nearby dark grey washing basket and balanced it to the left of the image (a big piece of dark card would work for normal people). It blocked out the sun in the background enough to make it fade into the shadows, while the foreground remained bright. (This is sometimes called flagging.) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s the recipe, for you! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ RECIPE: Whip 600ml cream, add a tin of condensed milk and stir in some fresh strawberries that you've put through a blender. Freeze. Enjoy!
