I've set aside my studio equipment for a little while, because I've been exploring natural lighting and finding ways to help small business owners use this for their own photos.
So here you see the image of my set-up in my windowsill. The light coming through the window kept changing as the clouds came and went, but the direct sunlight was just too bright. So I took a piece of white tissue paper and pasted it to the window to soften the light and put a reflective white board on the other side to add more light. I stood between the window and the reflector to photograph the garlic with the lighting coming form the side. I was looking for a very light shot with bright whites and soft, subtle shadows. I love the delicate papery skin of the garlic and the round, comforting shapes.
And ta-da! It's simple & effective.
