Hi everyone,
Are we halfway through May already? I feel as if Spring is really late this year, but at last everything is that super bright green again. It's my daughter's favourite colour.
Mine is blue. Blue skies, blue sea, blue walls and blue bowls. Which is probably why I've added another shade of blue to the range of fabric inks for our workshops. Well, our navy was starting to run low, so I decided to try a Midnight Blue (the top middle blue in the pic below this post). It is slightly softer than the navy (top left)- I would probably have called it denim blue. It's not a showstopper, like our pink, but I'm looking forward to see how it harmonises with the other colours. Please let me know if you have a colour request! I will put it on my priority list for future orders.
The inks (or paints) I use at the moment, are all from The Indian Block Print Company. They are water-based, non-toxic, and biodegradable, which makes them easy to clean and better for the environment. The printed fabrics are washable and inks are permanent, once the items are heat set with an iron. What I really like about them is that they aren't sticky and they dry much faster than Speedball equivalents. The liquid quality means that these prints don't sit on top of the fabric, but are absorbed by the fabric. I've found that this is so beautiful on smooth fabrics, but not always so good on coarse fabrics.
SO I have ordered a finer weave tea towel for the workshop at Restoration and Creation on 20 May. I also ordered a sample of an Egyptian Cotton cushion cover and the printed result was so beautiful, that I am ordering more cushion covers for you to print on in one of my upcoming workshops. The cotton scarves also soak up the inks beautifully, so have look below for all the details on the next workshops!
There are still a couple of spots available on the workshop at Restoration & Creation on 20 May! (See below)
I think that's all my news at this stage. I'm on the look-out for block print spaces for June. I'll let you know what I find. In the meantime, thanks again for subscribing and if this is not for you - the unsubscribe button should appear magically at the end of this email.
I would love to hear from you, if you have any thoughts or questions - just hit reply. Hopefully we'll get to meet at a workshop soon!
Best Wishes,
Karené
