Lino Pattern Printing Workshop

Create your own lino pattern motif! Learn about printing pattern onto textiles with lino. 

At this workshop we will discuss positive and negative shapes, tone, colour and look at some options for geometric or scattered pattern designs. Then, you will design a simple motif, which you will carve into lino (soft-cut sheets). You will use these lino blocks to print your own repeat pattern onto a set of 4 cotton napkins.

This is a great workshop to do if you have been to the Indian block printing workshop (which gives a feel for printing pattern onto textiles), but it is not a pre-requisite, and no previous experience is necessary.  If you have some design inspiration in mind, bring it along or let inspiration find you at the workshop. Often the simplest designs are the most effective!

All materials are included in the cost of this workshop and lino carving tools will be available to use. Items must be heat set at home with an iron, before washing (instructions will be provided).

Tea, coffee and cake is also provided.
